Events Coordinator at Porto Montenegro, Aleksandra Milic

‘Porto Montenegro is yet again firmly on the map of the favourite superyacht anchorages and jet-setter destinations for another summer running. This year, visitors will be able to enjoy a dynamic events calendar covering luxury lifestyle, arts and entertainment’, says Porto Montenegro Events Coordinator, Aleksandra Milic.

The summer events calendar has been finalised. What’s exclusive for this season?

The events calendar has never been more intense and this year, we’ve created something for everyone to enjoy. We’re hoping to satisfy a wide spectrum of visitors; those visiting Porto Montenegro for a holiday, those for whom Porto is a second home and local visitors from the Tivat Riviera. We will be hosting a series of concerts, shows and festivals in our exciting new venues, catering to fashion experts, music lovers and foodies with high standards!

What’s exclusive this summer? That’s a difficult one to answer, as there’s so much to choose from. I’d say the International Fashion Festival is among the most exciting events we’ll be hosting this year. The event will be hosted in our new Synchro venue where we will have the pleasure of welcoming several major international fashion brands. They’re currently still top secret, but I have no doubt that fashion lovers will be blown away by the selection. The 3-day affair will be made up of spectacular fashion shows, exhibitions and exclusive cocktail afterparties, with some of our domestic brands making an appearance.

Arts manifestations throughout the village certainly contribute to the striking appeal of Porto Montenegro. Will the village be at the centre of contemporary international arts this summer?

Each season, we organise unique arts events for all visitors, covering film, music, and artwork exhibitions. From May onwards, we will be hosting a number of art exhibitions in the Naval Heritage Collection Museum and Gayo Gallery, film screenings at the PMYC Beach and concerts at the Synchro. The inaugural event will be an impressive concert sure to attract huge new audiences. Throughout the summer, the museum will welcome exhibitions inspired by the Adriatic region, the Boka Bay and a special exhibition dedicated to the Hero submarine anniversary, while the Gayo gallery will gather the works of international artists, whose unique creations will attract art lovers from across the region.

This season, the luxury new venues play host to the majority of events. What value do these new locations add to the village?

The new venues are welcome additions, rounding off our village and bringing a wealth of new entertainment opportunities and increased capacity to host bigger and better events. These range from small cocktail gatherings to large corporate dinners and weddings accommodating groups of 500+. The Synchro will be a particularly interesting conference venue. Given its capacity, it’s also an ideal venue for hosting performances and fashion events, while Marina Park, our new outdoor lawn area, gives guests an opportunity to play traditional garden games, whilst taking advantage of the onsite minibar, of course!

The Synchro will welcome the Food Festival on 8th July which will offer visitors a dynamic degustation opportunity and local and international dishes at attractive prices. The PMYC beach continues in beach party style following the Southern Soul opening party which took place on 12th May, gathering faithful fans of the festival and opening the doors to the lounge oasis. The beach is a relaxed escape by day and a vibrant bar by night, where you can enjoy a cocktail or refreshing glass of wine during the sunset. We’ll also be showing the 2018 World Cup matches on film screens in ‘Silent Cinema’ style using Bluetooth headsets.

Events planning is a dimension of the entertainment and arts industry in its own right - what are the main things to consider when planning events of this magnitude?

Planning events requires careful consideration of all coexisting elements of the process, from inception through to realisation. It involves liaising with suppliers and third parties and keeping the communication stream constant. We also have to prepare for unforeseen circumstances and have Plan B back-up options to ensure the successful delivery of all of our projects. There’s a huge team working behind the scenes, each forming part of the event chain meaning that teamwork is key to solving unforeseen challenges.
